As the year draws to a close, we wanted to share a few final notes before we down tools for the festive period.
Last Orders at the Bar
There are moments that only really exist at the end of the night.
The bar is quieter. Conversations slow. Stories get better. Glasses are raised not to impress, but to remember.
AVRE VAT #1 was never about producing a whisky at scale. It was about marking a moment — honouring the 265 Commandos of Operation Chariot, and capturing something fleeting: courage, sacrifice, and the quiet bonds formed when history weighs heavy but company lightens it.
Monday 22nd is the final day to order for Christmas delivery. A small number of bottles remain. When they’re gone, that moment passes. The vat is emptied. The bar closes.
What remains is the ritual — opening it with people who matter, pouring a dram not for status but for meaning, and knowing that this is something that will never be repeated.

From Jim, Pete, Jim and Al — thank you. Your support throughout 2025 has meant more to us than we can properly express. AVRE remains a passion project in the truest sense: driven by curiosity, history, and a desire to do things properly. We’re still learning, still refining, and still figuring parts of this out — but without you, none of it would exist.
Looking ahead to next year, we have some remarkable pieces coming. Without spoiling too much, listeners of We Have Ways may already have heard whispers of something involving a Windak. Alongside future batch releases, we’ll also be introducing our first two evergreen products, designed to sit quietly and confidently alongside the batches.

1941 Denim Smock – Production Update
Thank you to everyone waiting patiently for the 1941 Denim Smock. We are now fully into production, with labels signed by Al and James. There has been a very slight delay due to the specialist denim — made exclusively for AVRE — taking longer than anticipated to achieve the exact standard we required. As a result, delivery has moved to early February.
